Hukum Sambut Hari Ibu sebagai seorang Islam adalah Haram. Dalam video Ustaz Azhar Idrus (UAI) dalam kuliah-kuliah agamanya berkata, sambutan ini adalah bagi memperingati Mother of Church Kristian. Sambutan Hari Ibu di Malaysia adalah pada hari ahad kedua dalam bulan Mei.
